Quick answer
- You can build a Fiverr-style freelance marketplace on WordPress with a marketplace theme and plugin.
- Best ready-made option: TaskHive, a freelance marketplace theme from HivePress. It costs $89.
- Free way to start: the free ListingHive theme with the free HivePress plugin (10,000+ installs, 4.9 stars), plus paid add-ons as you grow.
- FiverrWP, the theme this post used to recommend, no longer appears to be available, as its website didn’t respond when we checked.
Marketplaces like Fiverr connect freelancers with buyers: sellers list services, buyers place orders, and the site takes a commission. You can build a smaller version of that model, for a niche or a local market, with WordPress.
We checked which marketplace themes and plugins are still active and supported on November 7, 2026. Note that “Fiverr clone” is just a common search term: these tools aren’t connected to Fiverr, and you should use your own brand name and design.
Is FiverrWP still available?
This page used to recommend the FiverrWP theme from BoxThemes. When we checked, the developer’s website didn’t respond, so we can’t confirm it’s still sold or supported. We don’t recommend buying it from other sellers, because you wouldn’t get updates or support.
Option 1: TaskHive (ready-made freelance marketplace)
TaskHive is a freelance marketplace theme from HivePress, the team behind the HivePress listings plugin. It’s built for sites where freelancers offer services and clients hire them. It costs $89.
HivePress also sells ExpertHive ($89) for professional services marketplaces, which may suit you if you’re building a marketplace for consultants or experts.
Option 2: ListingHive + HivePress (free to start)

ListingHive is a free theme on WordPress.org, designed for directories, classifieds and marketplaces. Pair it with the free HivePress plugin and you can build listing and marketplace websites, then add extensions for features like payments and messaging as you grow.
- ListingHive: 9,000+ active installs, rated 5.0 on WordPress.org
- HivePress plugin: 10,000+ active installs, rated 4.9 on WordPress.org
What a freelance marketplace needs
- Seller profiles with portfolios and reviews.
- Service listings with prices, packages and delivery times.
- Orders and payments, usually through WooCommerce or Stripe.
- Messaging between buyers and sellers.
- Commissions and payouts so the site earns from each order.
- Ratings and dispute handling to build trust.
Tips before you launch
- Start with a niche, such as local tutors or designers in one language, rather than competing with Fiverr directly.
- Use your own brand. Don’t copy another company’s name, logo or design.
- Choose solid hosting, because marketplaces have many users logged in at once. See our Hostinger review or Rocket.net review.
- Check the legal side: terms of service, payments and taxes in your country.
