Quick answer

Bluehost is a beginner-friendly web host that’s officially recommended by WordPress.org.
Shared hosting starts at $3.99/mo on a 36-month term (Starter) and renews at $9.99/mo.
Even the cheapest plan allows 10 websites and includes a free domain for the first year, free SSL and a CDN.
It’s a good fit for a first blog. The main downsides are the renewal prices and that phone support starts on the Business plan.

Bluehost is one of the oldest and best-known web hosts, and it’s one of the few hosts listed on WordPress.org’s recommended hosting page. Most people choose it for their first WordPress blog because it’s simple to set up and the first-term price is low.

In this review, we look at what Bluehost’s plans include, what they really cost when they renew, and who should (and shouldn’t) use it. We checked every price and feature on Bluehost’s website in November 2026.

What is Bluehost?

Bluehost is a web hosting company that’s part of Newfold Digital, the same group that owns HostGator. It offers shared hosting, WordPress hosting, VPS and dedicated servers. Its shared plans are the ones most bloggers start with, and they come with WordPress installed and updated for you.

Bluehost pricing and plans

Bluehost has three main shared hosting plans. These were the prices on a 36-month term:

Bluehost shared hosting plans and prices, November 2026 — Bluehost's shared hosting plans and prices, November 2026

Plan	Price (36 months)	Renews at	Websites	Storage	Best for
Starter	$3.99/mo	$9.99/mo	10	10 GB NVMe	A first blog
Business	$6.99/mo	$13.99/mo	50	50 GB NVMe	Growing sites, extra security
eCommerce Essentials	$14.99/mo	$21.99/mo	100	100 GB NVMe	Online stores and memberships

The lowest prices need a 36-month term, paid upfront. Shorter terms cost more per month. When your first term ends, the plan renews at the regular rate, so it’s worth looking at the renewal column before you choose.

HostArmada: cloud hosting with free daily backups.
GreenGeeks: eco-friendly hosting with 5 websites on its cheapest plan.

Our verdict

Bluehost is a safe, simple choice for a first WordPress blog. The plans are generous for the price, and the setup is easy. Just plan for the renewal price, and pick Business if you want phone support and stronger security.
