Can we link the mobile numbers to the Aadhar cards online? This question is surfacing the internet and I often find my friend and colleagues asking this question.

Well, the answer is NO you can’t link your mobile number to your Aadhar card online. But there are alternatives for linking them.

As per the Government of India directive linking an Aadhar card to your mobile number is made compulsory.

The Supreme court has also passed the order in favor of the government. But the deadlines for linking mobile numbers to Aadhar cards have been extended.

Apart from linking Aadhar card to your mobile number, you have to link your Aadhar card to the bank account and credit cards.

The government has made it mandatory to provide Aadhar card details for the opening of bank accounts and even for taking a new mobile connection.

So it is clear that linking your mobile number to an Aadhar card is mandatory, but why it is required to be connected.

Why You Need To Link Mobile Number to Aadhar Card

Linking your mobile number to your Aadhar card is very important. Most of the service providers have made it compulsory to link your mobile number to your Aadhar card and complete your KYC (Know Your Customer).

Starting from taking sim card for mobile or using online wallets like PayTM, for availing of every service you have to complete your KYC.

While completing your KYC you need to authenticate your Aadhar card number with the service provider. Initially, it was done manually where someone from your company will come to your doorstep to collect the photocopy of the Aadhar card or they will tell you to upload it online.

With the advancement of technology, companies have started to authenticate your Adhar card details online. In KYC you have to update your Aadhar card and you will receive an OTP on the mobile number registered with the Aadhar card.

To complete the KYC you need to enter that OTP. If your mobile number is not linked with an Aadhar card you will not receive this OTP.

Apart from this for downloading your Aadhar card from the UIDAI website, you require your Aadhar card linked with your mobile number.

Now you know the importance of linking mobile numbers to Aadhar cards. Let’s now concentrate on the various steps to link them.
